View Full Version : Going Green by removing unwanted Junk mails

Stop Junk Mail (http://www.stateof-california.com/stop-junk-mail/stop-junk-mail.html) - let's start going green by having our junk mail remove or opt out of junk mail list. read thru info, call the numbers, mail them and in 6 months your junk mail will be down 70 to 90%..if after that time you received more junk mails, start calling those people and request to be removed from all mailings or not have names be sold off.

Thanks for the info. I must have thrown away a hundred pounds of junk mail this year already!

Nothing stops Capital One and AmEx from giving me offer after offer, week after week!

I'm not a spammer but I've found Life Lock to almost completely eliminate junk mail except the local businesses that can get addresses at the post office (public info). I can't remember the last time I got a pre-approved credit offer thanks to Life Lock.

Placing a temporary fraud alert on your credit file will stop pre-approved offers for three months, a permanent one would be in effect for 7 years but you need police report that you're an ID theft victim in order to do that.

Call the credit bureau's hotline to "opt out" helps a lot too. Here are several more options to reduce junk mail and protect your identity. (http://triceiver.com/Prevent_ID_Theft.aspx)

That's what I like about Life Lock. They automatically do this on your behalf every three months so you don't have to.

I will have to check them out. Thanks for the tip.

How is that going green?

TroyM
I am running 3 mail servers on my systems with more than 500 users.. The first thing I tell my users to get a free email account and use when they sign up or fill out online forms which are not VERY important...
Then do not send and receive CC email to a group of ppl.. This is one of the ways your email is added to spam lists...

Thanks

good thing to start with....junk mail!

kytine888
All I know is that they always have this option like you have to email back saying unsubscribe. then you wont receive any emails from them.

that's good, there are 2 kinds of messages that you can get in your junk mail .
1. virus
2. porn sites

cheers :)

yea how is using bcc gonna get you to go green?

Even if you opt out of mailing lists though someone else will just take there place, the majority of large companys buy peoples infomation from other companies too so i think it would be harder to stop it than you think.
