View Full Version : David Bach's Finish Rich training

Anyone ever heard of or done the training with one of David's financial advisors? If so what did you think of it, was it worth the money?
What do you think of David Bach's philosophy?

I read the book.
It's the same ol' same ol'. Pay your debts. Cut up your credit cards. Save money. Invest wisely. Retire with pina coladas in your hand.
Here is the table of contents from the book I bought -- "Start Late, Finish Rich" -- but all his books are similar in structure. There are five parts, and here they are:
Part One -- It's Time to Get it (a lecture about getting your mind right)
Part Two -- Spend Less
Part Three -- Save More
Part Four -- Make More (income)
Part Five -- Give More, Live More (the ol' circle of giving, that if you give to charities, more money will come back to you)
Reading his book is about the same as reading Dave Ramsey, or Suze Orman. It won't hurt you, and it might help you.
I say NOTHING about the seminars, which are programs really designed to make David Bach rich, not you.

I think I agree with Puck. I've read a couple of Bach's books and think they're quality reads with good information (unlike so many of those books that tell you how to become a millionaire by "thinking" like them...). I think The Automatic Millionaire was the first one I read, then I started flipping through Start Late because it was much of the same info. I don't know anything about the advisors, but if they're continuing along the lines of the books I suspect saving your money for paying debt and investing would be better.

I agree with both of you, I read the Couples book first and then the Automatic Millionaire and found them very much the same.
I think his books would be great for a young person just starting out but for someone that wants to really dive in and learn the finer details of personal finance he is not the one to read.
I was curious to know if anyone had taken the course because my feeling is the advisors are probably going to approach the education with the same philosophy(general) and wouldn't meet my level of needs. I have the concept of saving and paying off debt but just want that extra boost.
Thanks for the comments.

I've actually read David Bach, I didn't think he was all that bad.
Although, it contained a lot of the same information noted just about anywhere else.
Puck
Bach isn't bad -- it's just basic information. Spend less, earn more, save more, retire well. Since it's common-sense advice, it doesn't make sense to pay thousands of dollars for a seminar.

I've also read the book, and I wasn't impressed at all. It was all common sense, nothing creative...
