Best investment for child not sure will go to college?

I want to start investing money for my daughter but want to be protected in case she decides she doesn't want to go to college. What is my best choice? I know about the tax advantages of a 529 plan but worry what would happen if she doesn't go to college.

You could do what my father did but that's probably not what you are asking about. I was told around 7th grade that not a dime would be spent on my college education by my parents. My father never spent a dime on my education and I am probably better for it. I was focused from that point forward on taking care of myself with that regard. It focused me on my life goals and it forced me to set goals higher than I would have if it was handed to me.
