Hello,,
Looking for a clarification or strategy, but in a situation with a married couple where 1 earns $125K and the spouse earns $60K. If filing jointly, they would not be eligible for any portion of the tax rebate. However, if they should file as married-separate, would not the spouse be eligible for the $600 rebate for an individual??
In past years, they have always itemized, and filed jointly. Would switching for the sake of the rebate present any future restrictions? I do understand they would both need to itemize while filing separately, but is that a major issue or present other issues?
Just want to insure I do not miss anything, while looking to pick up a piece of the rebate pie.
thx,
pat
