Hello all,
I have a question about job related expenses. My wife is a dentist, had a W-2 job in 2006. She quit to stay home with our 2 kids for all of 2007 (Now has started working in Jan 2008). So during 2007, there was no income (and no w2) from her. She still had to pay for renewal of her state dental license, for membership to dental associations, malpractice insurance, DEA license, continuing education courses etc. Those were never paid by her employer in 2006 (Those are rarely paid by employer in her profession, though there are exceptions)
Can I file those under job related expenses, even if she had no job or w-2 for 2007? I know only those over 2% AGI can be considered but when all are added, they come up to be more than 2%. Is it a requirement to have a w-2 producing job to submit those expenses?
Many thanks in advance :)
