View Full Version : Credit Bureau protection policy

Are these worth the money?
I don't have extensive knowledge of them but I gather they make sure someone doesn't still your information and gain credit cards, etc with your name and info. If they do they insure us to a certain dollar amount. I know one company insures up to $1million but others are as low as $25k or $50k.

So is a policy something to consider?

Hi Notinthebiz, the best thing to do is do some research. I believe you are talking about the LifeLife.com company. There is really no reason to use this service unless you have been a victim of identity theft. Here are some easy ways to reduce your changes of being a victim of identity theft:
1. Ask for a fraud alert on your credit report
2. File a police report
3. Close all accounts and reopen new ones with new PINs
4. Contact the Social Security Administration
5. Contact your local post office
6. Shred all personal papers
7. File a complaint with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission)
8. File a complaint with your state Attorney General’s office or Department of Consumer Affairs
