Online Education?

I am looking for some real answers here, what is everyone's deal with online education? Honestly, most of the people who answer questions regarding online education have you ever done it? Please Help me?

I have taken online courses (through a community college), and I teach at a community college and half of my courses are offered online. In answer to your questions..
: Just as or sometimes more rigorous than traditional courses, so long as they are offered at an accredited institution. At my college, the research department found that the students who select online courses are the better students in the institution in BOTH the courses they take on campus and the courses they take online.

well, I dont enroll in online education but the reason why they want that because their is a conflict with their schedule with work..

I have a friend doing a computer course with microsoft, it is a two year course but obviously you can finish it quicker than that if you put the work in or finish it a day before the deadline. The problems he has found though are that when he has a query it either means emailing the course support which is effiecient but takes time for a reply or a phone call in which he is often on hold for a very long time. It is not like having a tutor or lecturer who can just ask a quick question to. He also found that you need to be very self motivated because if you arnt you could fall behind.

There were some recent studies that showed a degree from a "regular" institution does not help in any way from a private, more expensive college. Only those who go to Harvard, Yale, Oxford, etc. benefit in terms of income.

how long is the list of etc colleges?

i've been a member of lynda.com and thats where i learn my web development. it isnt a credited online course but im more concerned about my skills than a diploma.

Make sure the online college is accredited. Community college maybe better because although your having classes on site you are learning more. Also interacting with other students and teachers. They can also help you get a job in the future. Some community colleges may have online courses so its a great way to go. Community college may have more classes or more degrees than online. Good luck in your education.
