Is there any help out the for people with private student loans?

With this credit crisis going on interest rates are getting higher and higher. Is there any relief out there are people with private student loans? The LIBOR 3 month rate continues to go higher and I am just wondering what options are out there for us.

I have no idea what you are talking about. The libor interest rate has dropped almost 4% over the past year. Anyone who has private student loans based on this index are extremely lucky. Everytime the fed cut rates, this drops as a reaction.

There are plenty of options: you could always consolidate your student loans. As the above poster noted student loan interest rates have been within a historically low range. Of course, if you have bad credit then find a good rate could be an issue.

There is no help for private student loans. I have been looking for consolidation companies and all but 1 or 2 companies have stopped offering consolidation on private loans. And I applied with my excellent credit and got offered a rate of 11%! Almost 3% higher than what it is now. Your only choice is to just stick with what you have. Maybe choose a different payment schedule to lower the payments. But unless you have a Libor based variable loan, you don't have much of a chance in getting a lower interest rate.
