I just received the quarterly statements from our 529 accounts (w/ Franklin Templeton), and we lost, on average, about $35 in all of our accounts. Since we opened these accounts in July 2003, we've made as follows:
1 acct opened w/ $2000 = worth $2364 today
2nd acct opened w/ $2500 = worth $2963 today
3rd acct opened w/ $3000 = worth $3537 today
We have not contributed to the accts since openeing them.
My problem is, I have no idea how these 529s are doing compared to others. How much is a decent return? How do I find this out?
We opened these 529s on the advice of our financial advisor. I hesitate to ask him what he thinks b/c I don't think he'd be totally unbiased.
