Heres how single mom does. Since we dont have enough money to spend to enjoy week end. I make sure that my son will be happy with me. Biking outside the house. Go to park and look after my son when he is playing with other kids. If I have few bucks to spend we go malling and eat and buy some cute toy for him. And last is his favotire icecream. Hope it helps u give ideas. :P

To my ILs to deal with my MIL, who has lymphoma.
If not that, we stay home and work on the house.
Mondays are starting to look very wonderful.

Bali.
I dread the day we return to the US from being expatriates........
As for the family thing, we were a steel workers family....7 of us. Not alot of money but lots of love! I enjoyed playing board games, popping popcorn for a movie night and LOTS of outdoor activities. Thank goodness we couldn't afford good atari games.

Church, the library and the grocery store! We're homebodies.
We are planning to spend a few days in Washington, DC next month.

Likewise church, grocery store, running errands, working in the yard, etc. Fortunately we're close enough to the North GA mountains that we can do hiking and sight seeing and be back home the same day. However gas prices have put a curb on rambling sight-seeing drives through the mountains. Although Atlanta is still very much a "car centric" city, there are now a number of greenways in the metro area for walking and bike riding that also make for a nice weekend activity.

During the late fall and all winter, we spend every weekend traveling all over our wonderful state looking for the hockey arena that we are scheduled in. When spring comes, we tend to stay home alot, then in the summer we spend all the time on the lake, and at a cabin in the Canadian Northwoods that we can. In between all this, it is the usual of house work, errands, Church, laundry...and the rest of the mundane waiting for Monday to come again :)

We enjoy camping.
Lots of campgrounds (especially KOAs) have camping cabins you can rent. They are a nice cross between traditional tent camping while still having basic ammenities (showers, water, toilets, swimming, etc.)
I was a little scared about the kids being bored. Sometimes a little boredom is good for them/us. They love camping. It's great family time and now the kids beg to go camping.

Going out every week can get expensive, so home activities like baking with the kids or watching movies are a staple. Once or twice a month we go out for pizza or stroll at the mall.

My family stays at home during the weekends. Cuz, during week days, all of us are out working. Only during weekends is where we are at home the whole day for family bonding. Thanks for bringing this up. Cheers!

There are several ways to spend a nice weekend without spending too much or without spending at all.You can do it by going in a nearby park and bringing homemade food,or maybe going to church with the whole family.
