My sister is very ill and searching for a lawyer to help her with her estate, which is small. Mainly she has just her home, valued at about $200,000, but it is paid for. She wants to sell it to her daughter before she dies. Someone told her she can sell to her daughter for a dollar and avoid inhertance taxes. I think she can not do this anymore. She lives in Indiana. Does anyone know of a web site that talks about indiana law on gifting (I think this would be considered gifting) or federal law on this subject? She has very little money and I'm afraid she will move forward with this before she talks with a lawyer. She does use her computer a lot and I know if I could give her an address to do some research it would slow her down. Can anybody help me?
