I recently reviewed my credit report and noticed that I had a collection account listed. The amonunt is small (less than $500) but it has seriously hurt my credit score. The company that says I owe this NEVER once treid to contact me. I never received an invoice, a phone call or any other correspondence stating that I owed payment. I had absolutely no idea that I owed any9one anything. Do I have any recourse? Shouldn't a company show some kind of due diligence before referring an account to a collector?

As per the current economic crisis situation, companies are becoming very aggressive towards their approach for default collections. maybe that's a possible reason that you were not intimated by the company. I would probably suggest you to have a conversation with the concerned authority of the company, discussing about the matter that has happened to you. If possible, try to make the payment at once. And ask them to report this to the credit agencies as well. I don't think there is any other way out of this.

All the best
