View Full Version : Road side assistance packages, is it worth it ?

epc
I have been wondering what the klippinger community things or have experience about the road side assistance for towing, locked out, run out of gas, etc.

I am currently enrolled in one and it cost me about 80 dls a year. last year in an accident, i used about 130 in towin, which was not a bad deal. i figured that paid for one year !

but we just drive from work to home and we don't really make long trips. any takes on this kind of expense ?

thanks

I don't think it's worth it. Insurance has its place to protect you against losses that would impair your financial situation. The costs you could incur in this scenario should be just a minor incovenience. They wouldn't be offering you the coverage unless they make money on it, same with protection plans at Best Buy...

I bought some $100 thing at Radio Shack and they offered me a protection plan for $20?! C'mon they probably end up paying $1 or $2 to the customer and keep $18-$19 in pure profit. It's not like they have special prices for every item in the store, they just want 20% more for everything regardless. The guy at CompUSA was trying to tell me that computers break down all the time so I need the protection. Got the feeling he would say anything to get more $$ in his pocket.
