View Full Version : Anyone have a Roomba/Scooba/Dirt Dog?

I'm thinking about picking up a Roomba. Maybe a Scooba too. I've heard about them but got to see one in action today helping a friend of mine do the post Thanksgiving shin dig clean up and these things are truly amazing. She's had hers for a couple of months and swears by it and I can see why. Everything I have read online seems to indicate that the whole iRobot family is awesome. I'm just looking to see what any long-time owners might have to say.

I have a Roomba, and I love it!! The only con I can think of is that the battery drains. We bought ours with the extended warranty and were able to return the whole Roomba for a new one when the battery died. =]

How much does it cost to replace the battery when it dies?

I've heard nothing good about the Roomba, but if the lawnmower version really works, I would think about it. It would shut up the neighbor's cat at least :) .

I have roomba, and I can sum it up like this...it is best to consider it an intense duster. It will pick up a lot of surface materials, especially on hardwood. As for carpet, it does not have a "beater bar" nor a suction method, therefore it will not "pull" anything out of your carpet. Another shortcoming is that you have to "setup" the room for maximum efficiency. Moving anything that you would keep it from doing it's job correctly. That being said, I have short carpet and a lot of rugs and hardwood. It does a wonderful job in that scenario.
