I use an iMac at work ... believe it or not, I've been using the same iMac here for about five years now -- the thing is running 12 and 14 hours a day and is going strong.

I do have a non-mac at home because my kids learned on non-macs at school and they're more comfortable with them. However, for my own use, I wouldn't ever consider buying anything but a Mac. They are more user-friendly in my opinion, and viruses are essentially not an issue. They're all most newspapers ever use, because they're so good with graphics. Whenever I have to use a non-mac, I'm in a constant state of irritation and can't wait to get my hands back on a Mac.

Here is a good read. It gives both sides of the coin from people that know what they are talking about. As for my opinion, I don't think a Mac is worth the premium paid for them.

I love my Mac. It's a workhorse. The comparable PC I had before my Mac would have fried by now. And, since I use it for my home business, I get to do the whole depreciation thing and deduct part of its "premium" cost.

But it's largely a matter of preference. My dad still swears by the PC, despite his experiences with a Mac.

I just bought the wife a MacBook this weekend. Very slick machine, w/ a solid unix-based OS runnning it. As for me, I use Ubuntu Linux running on an Acer Aspire laptop.

My brother has one and absolutely loves it.

I bought my third iMac 3 weeks ago and wouldn't have anything else. This iMac (24," 2.4 Ghz Intel Core Duo, 2 GB 667 Mhz DDR2 SDRam) is FAST! It came ready to go once plugged in and has really been a pleasure to use. Every iMac I've had has been reliable and mostly problem free. I give it 5 stars.

Anyone who tries to steer you away from using a Mac has NOT used a Mac for more than 10 minutes. I first convinced my dad years ago to get a mac for our family computer. He was VERY skeptical. He now has his own iMac, my sister has an iBook G4, and I have an iMac G5. All of our Macs have run flawlessly. No more spyware, no more trojans and no more viruses. Yes, no more viruses! I would definitely recommend buying one. Any one of my friends who have come over and used my computer have all gotten Macs. They are great computers.

No kidding, I'm one of the users who has a pc at work and then switches to a Mac when I get home. The mac is so trouble free compared to my Dell at work. If I could bring my iMac to work and use it, I'd have it there in a minute. I'm not under any delusions that Mac's will make their way into everyday company use unless you're in digital audio or photo editing.

At the end of the day i don't think anyone can say one is better than the other as it depends what you use your computer for. Personally i prefer mac's just because of thier simplicity but i know many people who prefer PCs. I don't think ill ever go back to a PC though
