anyone familiar with student funding services?

Has anyone had any experience with Student Funding Services (mystudentloans.com)? Have you consolidated loans with them? Have you gotten calls from them trying to get you to consolidate?

I haven't, but am interested as well. I generally am leary of "telemarketing" type consolidation calls. You never know who is on the other line. I prefer online companies personally.

I'm not sure why anyone consolidates with anyone OTHER than the Federal program, Direct Loan. Their interest rate is always the lowest, since the others have to charge a higher rate in order to make their profit. It may be just a quarter percent higher, but that still adds up to quite a chunk of change!

ACTUALLY this is incorrect. The federal government sets the consolidation interest rates for everyone...including Direct Loans. See it HERE (https://studentaid.ed.gov/students/publications/repaying_loans/2003_2004/english/repayment-options-consolidation.htm) So, everyone has the same interest rate. The only difference is those people who offer discounts off of that rate...and Direct Loans is not one of the lenders that will offer discounts. Check out their website and you'll see.

I always recommend that people check to see if there is a state-designated nonproft lender in their state. These nonprofits get tax exempt funding which they can use to give better discounts to their customers.

I will give 5 stars to Student Funding Services :) they have the greatest manager or owner and some terrific employees, they helped me long time ago, I now they got in some kind of trouble later, but, all those student loan's companys were so. Now, I am in my senior year and all that I know is I have to consolidate my student loans with the only organism available: Dep of Education, so good luck to everyone!
