The new Citi Forward card has rewards that are better than the Citi mtvU card, and you don't need to be a college student to get it.

In addition to earning 5 ThankYou points per dollar spent at restaurants, movie theaters, book stores, music stores, and movie rental stores and 1 ThankYou point at all other venues, you get:

6000 TY points after making $50 in purchases within the first 3 months
5000 TY points for signing up for paperless statements within the first 3 months
100 TY points per billing period if you pay on time and stay under your credit limit
0.25% APR reduction for paying at least your minimum amount due and staying under your credit limit for 3 billing periods in a row
No annual fee
0% APR on purchases and balance transfers for 6 months (3% BT fee)
Earn up to 75,000 TY points per year

You can achieve the full 5% reward value of your TY points by redeeming them for:

$100 gift cards (for 10,000 TY points) at stores such as Sears, JC Penny, Macy's, Overstock.com, Bloomingdales, Dillards, LL Bean, Cabelas, etc.
$25 student loan credits (for 2,500 TY points)

This is a great credit card. It is just unfortunate that you can no longer use the thank you points for the fixed flight option, but at least they still offer $100 gift cards for 10,000 points.

Yup, unfortunately, the $25 student loan credit for 2,500 points is no longer available either. The gift cards option is the thing that makes 1 Citi ThankYou points almost as good as 1 cent. There are dozens of $100 gift card options.
