I need to rebalance and add a bond(s) fund. I'm doing this in my Roth account. In my 401 account we have only 1 to choose, so I can use the Roth for the bond fund.
I'm looking through the Kiplinger information now, but thought maybe someone would point in the right direction as to what I should look for, avoid, etc.
Thanks

Mike,
It sounds like you're overbalanced in equity positions at the current time? If so, adding bonds would be a good diversification move. Since your Roth is tax-free earnings, it doesn't make any sense to use a municipal (tax-free) bond fund. So, I would imagine you might want to look into a quality short-term (or even medium-term) corporate or government bond fund depending on how conservative you wish to be. Within bond funds, there are municipals, high-yield, ultra-short, short, medium, and long term, target-term trusts, government, etc. If you check out finance.yahoo.com and explore a bit, you can find the various bond fund families, check out individual funds and can then view their profiles, price histories, performances, and the like. That should get you started. Also, check out a big fund family like Vanguard and peruse around their site to see what is available. Hope this helps a bit.
