View Full Version : Claiming for a Tax Refund
thrisiakaye
Hello readers! My uncle Steve was married to a Filipina wife. After the marriage my uncle started to send money to help some of her family there until one day my uncle realized how much money they were sending each year. If her family were here in the US it would not be a problem they would just get their SS number and claim them as a dependent! They checked many options but it came out that the only legal way was to give a donation to a charity and get our Zwrot podatku (http://www.rttax.com/) or Tax Refund that way. Does anyone here have experiences like this? I would love to know and hear your experiences. Thanks in advance for your help!

Thrisiakaye,
I have no experience with what you are stating about your uncle Steve.
When we make a donation to a qualified 503-c charity, and the charity gives us a receipt, we may have a tax benefit when all of our itemized deductions exceed the standard deduction.
When we qualify to itemize our deductions, and in those deductions is a $1,000 contribution to a qualified organization, being in the 25% tax bracket, we would have our taxes reduced by $250.

Hello thrisiakaye, It's better to consult a lawyer about that matter. Good luck.
