View Full Version : Credit cards do have advantages over cash
savingadvice
Credit cards do have a number of advantages over paying in cash (http://www.creditcardadvantages.com), but this only holds true if you pay off your credit card balance in full each month. If you don't do that, then you are wasting your money using a credit card since interest fees will negate any of the advantages.
Some of the advantages include damage and loss protection, theft protection, free travel insurance, free rental car insurance coverage and rewards. These can add up to quite a bit in savings over time when you use a credit card wisely.

The best benefit of credit cards over cash is that you can use them with ease abroad. They are fast becoming an internationally recognized currency. While cash will be accepted everywhere within your own country, credit cards are accepted at a huge number of locations all over the world. As soon as you step off a plane, and especially if you are traveling through a number of countries, a credit card will be an invaluable means of payment everywhere you go.

Yup, that's another nice benefit of credit cards when travelling abroad. Note, however, that you'll usually be charged a 3% foreign currency exchange fee. The important exceptions to this are Capital One credit cards, which waive the fee.
