View Full Version : How Long Does Consolidation Take??
cg1
I am trying to figure out how long consolidation takes....
Puck
It's been a while since I've consolidated, but I think it was within a month or two of my initial request. Maybe less. I did it before I had any payments due, which probably would have made me remember the event more clearly.

It depends on what you mean…if you mean how long does it take to apply for a student consolidation loan, then the answer is a few minutes. Some companies even have online applications with the ability to e-sign, so the process is even faster. Here is a list of the best student loan consolidation companies (http://forums.kiplinger.com/showthread.php?t=6051/) with online/e-sign.
Puck is right, once you apply, the actual “consolidation” process takes 1 – 2 months. During this time the consolidation company is contacting your current loan holders to get your loans paid off so they can take them over.

Hello
I think cg1 wants to know "how long the consolidation process takes?" which means will it take a day to consolidate or a month or a year or may be spanned up to several years.
Yes, depending upon various the process can takes several years. It all depends on:
Which consolidation firm you choose?
What kind of package you choose?
Amount of Interest Rate!
And the list goes on and on.
I discussed in one of my previous post about "U.S. House of Representatives Approves Student Loan Interest Rate Cuts"
You can check the post and the entire post here:

If you want to "understand" the student loan consolidation process completely then I would suggest you visit:

it depends on how much you're willing to pay each month and how you consolidate.
