View Full Version : ultra portable laptop. dell or hp?

articledon
Im in the market for an ultra portable laptop. I cant decide between the hp tx1000z or the dell xps m1210.

Both are about 4 pounds and I would get the base model one for 1000$.

Does anyone know about any of these laptops? which one would you choose?

Im also worried about the swivel screen on the hp. Will the swivel screen be a problem 13 months from now when the warranty is up?

the dell uses intel core duo and the hp, amd. I have heard that the core duo is better in every way than the AMD. should this be a deciding factor?

all input is appreciated thanks.

First I'm an AMD guy so I think I would choose HP not to mention that the Ferrari F1 team is using AMD and the F1 Williams team is using an HP.

Secondly, the swivel screen doesn't give any plus in my opinion but if you are worried about it then just don't use the swivel feature, just turn the laptop and not the screen.

Third, test drive the laptop. See which brand you're most comfortable with. Different laptops/keys has different feel, so if everything is equal to you then choose the one you feel is for you or the style that suits your character/image.

HTH.

I had seen one ultra portable and very light laptop from Toshiba 2 days back. was only 2 pounds with flash hard disk. Do give a look to Toshiba also.

both laptops are good actually.. if your a gamer.. AMD is good in graphics etc... but if you're a internet user / browser... the Intel Core 2 Duo is the best..

it really depends on how you will use it. Also feel the laptop and choose what you
think best suits you. =)

I vote for HP too but MSI Wind or Acer AspireOne are good too.

Sorry to say but AMD vs Intel has nothing to do with graphics. Your "graphics card" is what's in question here. If you're gaming look carefully at the laptops graphics card and whether it uses shared or dedicated ram. If it uses shared ram I don't recommend it for gaming.

I'd have to favor dell just in general though. HP makes a more colorful product with lots of neat buttons to woo consumers while Dell tends to make a laptop that works. Granted both have terrible customer service being such big companies unless you purchase your dell with business support.

You go with Dell xps m1210 laptop. It's better option than HP tx1000z.
