View Full Version : Trailing total return vs. return

This is probably a stupid question, but I couldn't find the answer with a cursory google search. What is the difference between "Trailing Total Returns" and "Returns" for a given time period for a fund?

For example:

Is the return on this fund a result of the front load? If so, if this fund is purchased through a 401k so that the load is waived, is the trailing total return the more accurate representation of the fund's return to the investor?

Thanks.
