VULs?

I recently had a friend of mine try and sell me on a VUL, from his sales presentation it looked good, but I'm curious what others have to say about them!

maxing out your roth? (or deductible IRA)
maxing out your 401(k) (or similar offering)?

then perhaps now is the right time to look at a vul. there are other reasons where a vul might be an interesting add to your portfolio, but i suspect you are more interested in getting people to click your links than you are learning about vuls.
