C Corp and Payroll

I have a client who set up a C-Corp for some reason (Window Treatment Company). The business is new and not profitable. He has not taken anything in salary this year, although he is working at the business full time. There are no other employees. Is he required to pay himself a salary even tho company not profitable?

Should he be looking at switching to a different type of entity (sole-prop), or just keep the C-corp and look forward to making money in the future?

Thanks for any advice.
