Conditions of repayment?

Hi all,

I was just wondering does anyone know what wage you have to be earning before you have to start paying back your student loan?, i am enquiring on behalf of my brother who currently earns £12000 before tax per year. He is in line to recieve a wage rise in the next few weeks of up to £3000 taking his wage to £15000 a year, does this mean he will trigger the repayment process?.

Any advice would be much apprieciated, thanks in advance

I have no idea what it's like in Great Britian. Here in the USA, you begin repayment six months after you graduate -- what rate of pay you make doesn't matter a bit. You owe what you owe, and have to start repaying. There are hardship loopholes and such, but the burden is on the borrower to seek them out and attempt to get them.

Thanks puck, i actually found out the terms yesterday and it seems you guys have it harder than us, i have been told that the loan repayments don't start until you are earning more than £15000 a year so looks like my brother is gonna start paying, thanks for the reply anyway
