Consolidating private student loans?

I have some 9-14% interest rate private student loans that I wanted to consolidate. Is it pretty much impossible to consolidate student loans in this economy?

Consolidating Private Student Loans

No, it is not impossible although it is a little more difficult. The thing to keep in mind about student loans is that it is VERY hard if not next to impossible to get out of paying back a student loan (the only real exception is for becoming disabled and a few other things). This is much different than trying to get out of paying back a home loan where people can simply walk away from the home.
