Energy tax credit for 20080?

Is there an energy tax credit for installing a more efficient AC/furnace? I had new equipment installed in June; the AC was from 1963 and the furnace from 1974. A month later, the water heater shot craps, so it's new as well. a total of around $6000. (God, it hurts just to type that.)

I thought I heard/read somewhere the tax expired with the 2007 tax year and will be renewed for 2009. Figures, I've never been good on timing.

Thanks

Garp15,

You are right. The energy tax credits expired at the end of 2007.
But now you can watch for a reduction in your energy consumption.

There are some new energy efficient tax credits for 2009.

May we thank our Congress for this 2008 omission?
At election time I am sure we will be reminded of the tax credits being reinstated.

Boy, can I time things or what? Yes, I was actually surprised that my gas bill went down this winter, since it's been so blasted cold. Maybe 8-10% less gas usage/day.
thanks
