Energy tax credit for 20080?
Is there an energy tax credit for installing a more efficient AC/furnace? I had new equipment installed in June; the AC was from 1963 and the furnace from 1974. A month later, the water heater shot craps, so it's new as well. a total of around $6000. (God, it hurts just to type that.)
I thought I heard/read somewhere the tax expired with the 2007 tax year and will be renewed for 2009. Figures, I've never been good on timing. Thanks |

Garp15,
You are right. The energy tax credits expired at the end of 2007. But now you can watch for a reduction in your energy consumption. There are some new energy efficient tax credits for 2009. May we thank our Congress for this 2008 omission? At election time I am sure we will be reminded of the tax credits being reinstated. |

Boy, can I time things or what? Yes, I was actually surprised that my gas bill went down this winter, since it's been so blasted cold. Maybe 8-10% less gas usage/day.
thanks |
